Successful tests of electric pumping units for icebreakers Siberia and Ural
26 December 2018
At the test bench of JSC “GMS Livgidromash”, acceptance and acceptance tests of vertical electric pump units VTsMA5000-14, intended for cooling the nuclear power plant of serial universal nuclear icebreakers (UAL) of project 22220, were successfully carried out. Traditionally, the acceptance committee included authorized employees of JSC “Plant” Kirov-Energomash and FSUE Atomflot.
At the same time, acceptance tests of PEMA 250-80 electric pump units supplied for UAL 22220 Ural were successfully completed. All equipment is packaged and ready for shipment to JSC Baltic Plant.
“Ural” is the third icebreaker of Project 22220, in the equipment of which the EnergoFront company takes part. This is a difficult project, since strict requirements are imposed on all units installed on icebreakers,” Ilya Zagorodniy, project manager at EnergoFront LLC, comments on the task. “I would like to note that over the 2 years of implementation of this grandiose project, EnergoFront has established itself as a reliable engineering partner, consistently demonstrating a high level of technical competence.”
In 2019, Baltic Shipyard JSC plans to sign contracts for the supply of equipment for the remaining two icebreakers of Project 22220.
The objective of project 22220 is to ensure Russia’s leadership in the Arctic. The nuclear icebreakers under construction will provide escort for ships transporting hydrocarbons from the fields of the Yamal and Gydan Peninsulas, the Kara Sea shelf to the markets of the countries of the Asia-Pacific region. The new ships will be able to break through ice up to 3 meters thick and guide convoys of ships in Arctic conditions.
With wishes for complex and interesting projects,
