Winning the tender for design work and supply of equipment to Barnaul CHPP-3

20 December 2023

EnergoFront once again confirmed the status of an engineering company trusted by large energy systems by winning the tender for “Design work, equipment supply, installation supervision, commissioning work and personnel training for the project: “Replacement of four 130DPV-8/23KEG-UZ 2.5 MW circulation pump units with electric motor pumps smaller capacity 1.8 MW” at the branch of JSC “Barnaul Generation” – “Barnaul CHPP-3” (LLC “Siberian Generating Company”).

The circulating water supply system of BTPP-3 is a reverse one with three cooling towers with an irrigation area of 2600 m2 each. The source for replenishing water losses in the circulation system with cooling towers is the Ob River.

The circulation of cooling water in the technical water supply system of the thermal power plant is provided by four vertical diagonal pumps of type 130DPV-8/23, installed in a separate building near the cooling towers. The circulation pumping station (CPS) was put into operation in 1981.

The approximate average time of use of one circulation pump 130DPV-8/23KEG-UZ with a rated power of 2,500 kW is 3,451 hours per year. Under the current operating conditions of the station, there is a need for lower capacity pumps.

Goals of work during the implementation of the project: reduction of electricity costs for own needs; increasing the reliability of auxiliary equipment.

Using the accumulated experience in the design and implementation of projects to replace pumping equipment, EnergoFront proposed the most effective and cost-effective solution for replacing four circulation pumps 130DPV-8/23KEG-UZ on existing foundations with connection to pipelines without reconstructing the building of the circulation pumping station and the technological part of the station’s technical water supply system.

Our company proposed for consideration at the tender a vertical semi-submersible pump type 66MX-1/1 (Q=21,000 m3/hour, H=24 m) produced by the Ruhrpumpen concern, aggregated with an asynchronous electric motor with a power of 1.8 MW.

As part of the implementation of this project, our specialists will conduct a pre-design survey, develop design documentation, supply four modern vertical semi-submersible pumping units, and provide installation management and commissioning services.

The project will be implemented in stages: two pumping units are planned for delivery in 2024; the next two units will be in 2025.

With wishes for stable development,
