Optimization of work at Astana-Energia LLP CHPP-2 (Kazakhstan)

5 May 2017

Development of a methodology for determining the energy efficiency of thermal power plants is an important technical and economic task. It is aimed at the optimized use of resources that serve as fuel for the operation of thermal power plants and the economic efficiency of the plant. With the development of science, technology and economics, approaches to solving problems of optimizing operating modes of power equipment are becoming more complex.

As part of the modernization project of Astana-Energia LLP, CHPP-2, EnergoFront LLC will supply a new electric motor in July 2017. Astana-Energia LLP provides the production of thermal and electrical energy for the needs of Astana and the Akmola region. Having analyzed the wishes of the station’s operational services, the EnergoFront KZ LLP team offered the general contractor a 4AZM-4000/6000 UHL4 electric motor produced by NPO Elsib PJSC on an adapter plate for the 2AZM-4000/6000 electric motor installed earlier. It is worth noting separately that EnergoFront LLC managed to optimize the engine production time to 90 days, instead of the standard 150. Reducing the delivery time and selecting the engine on the adapter plate will allow the general contractor to reduce the time required to complete the work, and the end customer will avoid the possible risks of high-frequency vibrations in the event of replacing the foundation.

The supply of the 4AZM-4000/6000 UHL4 electric motor is included in the project for replacing boiler feed pump No. 1 PE-500-185-3T. The tender for the provision of services for replacing the boiler feed pump was won by Kazremenergo JSC. Kazremenergo JSC plans to complete installation and assembly work in August 2017.

Opinion of the director of EnergoFront KZ LLP Alexey Mikhailov:

“The main difficulty of this project was finding a balance between the requirements of the final Customer and the general contractor. Having thoroughly studied the problem of replacing the electric motor, we were able to provide a solution that satisfied both parties. On the one hand, the station will receive high-quality equipment and will reduce potential risks during the operation of the equipment; on the other hand, the general customer will significantly reduce the time required to complete the work, which will allow the equipment to be put into operation immediately before the start of the heating season.”

With best wishes,
