The next equipment was delivered for the serial icebreakers “Sibir” and “Ural” under construction
30 May 2018
In Zychlin (Poland), the EnergoFront team, together with Polish colleagues – representatives of the Emit plant, tested electric motors for delivery to the nuclear-powered serial icebreakers “Sibir” and “Ural” under construction as part of project 22220. All necessary work was completed on time and successfully.
This batch of electric motors will be part of the PEMA 250-80 serial pumping units, which in turn are designed to supply feedwater to the steam turbine installation of icebreakers. The accepted equipment will be shipped to HMS Livgidromash JSC for final assembly and acceptance testing of serial PEMA 250-80 pumping units.
Project 22220 nuclear icebreakers are necessary to ensure Russia’s leadership in the Arctic. They will be able to navigate convoys of ships in Arctic conditions, breaking through ice up to three meters thick along the way. The new ships will provide guidance for vessels transporting hydrocarbons from the fields of the Yamal and Gydan Peninsulas, the Kara Sea shelf to the markets of the countries of the Asia-Pacific region.
Opinion of EnergoFront LLC project manager Ilya Zagorodniy: “Our colleagues from Poland showed a high level of organization and professionalism during the acceptance work. This was facilitated by the experience gained in carrying out similar procedures as part of testing the lead samples of equipment supplied to the icebreaker “Arktika” (project 22220), on which mooring tests have already begun. All our experience and knowledge accumulated during our participation in the 22220 project indicate that the EnergoFront team can handle such large-scale orders. Thanks to well-coordinated and high-quality work, including jointly with partners, we again and again demonstrate to our Customers the high level of equipment we supply and prove our professionalism.”
With wishes of stable and high-quality work,
