EnergoFront will replace outdated equipment for the Azot Branch of URALCHEM JSC

22 October 2018

The EnergoFront company won the tender for the supply of pumping units for the Azot Branch of URALCHEM JSC, offering a reasonable alternative to conventional solutions.

Due to wear and interruptions in the operation of the installed equipment, the Azot Branch of URALCHEM JSC in the city of Berezniki announced a tender for the supply of pumping units for pumping a solution of magnesium nitrate in nitric acid. EnergoFront specialists worked through many options for completing the task and offered the best solution.

“We saw an opportunity to take a non-standard path,” project manager Maxim Kosyakov comments on the proposed solution. – While manufacturers are developing the latest alloys and materials with increased resistance to abrasive and corrosive wear, which leads to increased equipment costs, we selected a pump of a completely different design (Börger rotary vane pump). The rotation speed of the rotors of this pump is 362 rpm, which is almost 5 times lower than that of centrifugal pumps. Accordingly, the wear rate of equipment is significantly reduced. In addition, removable armor plates are installed in the pump housing.”

The Azot branch of URALCHEM JSC is the only enterprise in Russia that produces higher aliphatic amines, crystalline sodium nitrite, sodium and potassium nitrate. The main products produced by the Azot branch are ammonia, nitric acid, urea, nitrite-nitrate salts, and ammonium nitrate.
