EnergoFront has reached the North Pole!
19 October 2020
On October 12, 2020, the last stage of sea trials of the universal nuclear icebreaker Artika ended. In 21 days, the icebreaker covered a distance of 4,800 nautical miles. On October 3, 2020, during testing, the icebreaker reached the North Pole!!! Congratulations to all the builders and crew of this unique ship!!!
Our company is very glad that it is participating in such a grandiose project and is making its contribution to the development of the Russian Icebreaker Fleet.
During sea trials, the Icebreaker made the transition from St. Petersburg to the Barents Sea, from where it headed for the North Pole.
This was a new stage of testing for the Icebreaker, including equipment supplied by our company. These are AT24-M80-690-P00000 frequency converters (4 pieces) and mShw 400 H2 Es electric motors (4 pieces), which are used as part of PEMA 250-80 electric boiler feed pump units. The pumping units themselves, in turn, are designed to supply feedwater to the steam generators of a steam turbine plant.
The ship (and with it our equipment) successfully operated in conditions of strong pitching and roll, as well as sharp impacts (waves).
Inspection of the equipment after the storm showed that it was in working order and there was no damage after the storm.
After performing routine maintenance, the Icebreaker checked its ice qualities. The thicker the ice, the more the shock and vibration load on the ship increased, but this did not in any way affect the stable operation of our equipment. When performing complex maneuvers, the energy and propulsion systems experience additional stress. In these modes, the harmonious, coordinated work of many systems is important. And our equipment did not fail, strictly and timely ensuring the rotation of the boiler feed pumps, which in turn supply the steam generator with water for steam production.
The builders and crew of the Icebreaker had no complaints about the operation of our equipment along the entire route, and it was put into operation.
The ceremonial handover of the nuclear-powered Icebreaker Arktika to Rosatomflot and the raising of the flag of the Russian Federation on board the ship is scheduled for October 21, 2020.
With wishes for stable development,
EnergoFront team #FrontProject
