Successful testing of equipment for serial icebreakers of Project 22220 “Sibir” and “Ural” continues
10 September 2018
Another important step has been taken by EnergoFront LLC as part of a grandiose project to supply equipment to the icebreakers Ural and Sibir. In September, acceptance tests of eight mSVh400h10cs 290 kW vertical electric motors designed to drive the VTsMA5000-14 circulation pump unit were carried out at the test bench of the Emit plant (Zichlin, Poland).
All tests were successful and demonstrated full compliance of the parameters with the technical specifications. To confirm the requirements of the technical specifications, EnergoFront LLC specially organized the supply of a standard EPV-Sh48-7 OM4 frequency converter, which was tested by CHEAZ JSC in July 2018. The accepted equipment will soon be shipped to JSC HMS Livgidromash for final assembly and comprehensive testing of VTsMA500-14 pumping units.
“During the tests, we were once again convinced of the reliability of the equipment and the professionalism of our team,” comments Ilya Zagorodniy, project manager at EnergoFront LLC. “It’s gratifying that on such a strategically important project we invariably demonstrate our competence and responsibility in solving the task.”
The objective of project 22220 is to ensure Russia’s leadership in the Arctic. The nuclear icebreakers under construction will provide escort for ships transporting hydrocarbons from the fields of the Yamal and Gydan Peninsulas, the Kara Sea shelf to the markets of the countries of the Asia-Pacific region. The new ships will be able to break through ice up to 3 meters thick and guide convoys of ships in Arctic conditions.
With wishes for uninterrupted operation,
