7 May 2013

“The INTER RAO UES Group has begun construction of the 12th combined cycle power unit at the Verkhnetagilskaya State District Power Plant with an installed capacity of 420 MW,” says the energy holding company.

The total investment amount will be up to 20 billion rubles.

The deadline for commissioning the power unit under the CSA is December 2014.

The power unit construction project will be managed by LLC INTER RAO Engineering (a subsidiary of OJSC INTER RAO UES).

The commissioning of a new power unit will make it possible to decommission the outdated coal-fired equipment of stages I-III of the state district power plant, introduced back in the 50s of the last century, without reducing the volume of electricity generation and the total installed capacity. Due to the commissioning of the 12th power unit, the total installed electrical capacity of the station will increase by 68 MW. During the construction of CCGT-420, the total electrical capacity of Verkhnetagilskaya GRES will be 1,565 MW.

At the same time, the main indicators of its reliability and production efficiency are expected to increase significantly. In addition, the project provides for a significant reduction in permissible levels of harmful emissions into the atmosphere, thermal impact on the environment and water consumption.

It is planned that the new power unit of the Verkhnetagilskaya State District Power Plant will be one of the most modern and efficient in its class.
