Large-scale reconstruction at the Utilization Thermal Power Plant of PJSC Novolipetsk Metallurgical Plant
31 March 2017
Timely updating of technological processes and equipment determines the increase in the efficiency of the enterprise. Reconstruction of thermal power plants is always focused on improving productivity, increasing power and developing the most efficient ways to operate equipment. Regular updating of equipment guarantees the reliability of the CHP operation, which means it gives confidence in the uninterrupted power supply of the enterprise.
Currently the company is LLC «EnergoFront is reconstructing the Utilization Thermal Power Plant. The project provides for the installation of a steam power unit in the existing building of the combined heat and power plant as part of a steam boiler and steam turbine unit. Instead of a generator, a compressor is installed on the PTU shaft to provide cold blast air to Blast Furnace No. 6. It is planned to install additional pumping equipment in the recycling water supply pumping station.
For these purposes, EnergoFront supplies circulation pumps D6300-27-3 in the amount of 2 pcs. and a modernized boiler feed pump unit APE-270-150-5 with an electric motor 4AZM-2000/. It is important to note that the reconstruction of the combined heat and power plant is carried out without stopping existing production.
The utilization thermal power plant, which is part of PJSC Novolipetsk Metallurgical Plant (total capacity 150 MW), is a modern technological complex that includes 3 turbogenerators with a capacity of 50 MW each, 3 boilers for steam production, a water treatment plant, cooling towers, etc.
The commissioning of the thermal power plant in 2011 made it possible to increase the efficiency of using associated gases, which are a by-product of coke, blast furnace and converter production, for generating electricity. With the commissioning of the combined heat and power plant, the plant’s level of self-sufficiency in electrical energy reached 53%.
Opinion of Svetlana Prokudina, project manager of EnergoFront LLC:
«This project was carried out through a general contractor. The main task that we faced was the supply of main and auxiliary equipment as part of the expansion of the thermal power plant. Thanks to a well-executed presentation of the equipment and well-coordinated work, our team managed to receive this order.”
With best wishes for updates,
