EnergoFront launched production of electric motors for the needs of Karaganda CHPP-2
23 March 2020
Karaganda CHPP-2 was put into operation in 1973 and, today, is one of two generating enterprises of the ArcelorMittal Temirtau metallurgical plant JSC. The thermal power plant provides the workshops with electrical and thermal energy, chemically purified and demineralized water, and also supplies heat and electricity to the city of Temirtau. Karaganda coal from local mines is used as fuel.
The main equipment of the station has been in operation for more than 40 years and has already exhausted its service life. In addition to the high wear and tear of equipment, the situation is also aggravated by the fact that the boilers are now operating on non-design fuel, because the operating conditions and coal production in the mines of the Karaganda basin have changed. Based on the above, a decision was made to reconstruct the station with the replacement of boiler-turbine and auxiliary equipment.
Based on the results of the tender procedure conducted by ArcelorMittal Temirtau JSC, Podolsk Machine-Building Plant JSC was selected as the boiler supplier. The auxiliary boiler equipment included tangential hammer mills of the MMT type produced by JSC TYAZHMASH. As an electric drive for the mill, EnergoFront specialists proposed using electric motors of the ADOSH series produced by NPO ELSIB PJSC.
The ADOSH series electric motor was specially designed according to the technical initial requirements of TYAZHMASH JSC, to drive ball/hammer mills, based on commercially produced ADO electric machines and is designed to ensure the start of the mill even with some blockage of the grinding chamber.
Considering the short deadlines for the project, the equipment is planned to be shipped in batches. EnergoFront will, as usual, monitor production deadlines and ensure delivery of electric motors directly to the site.
In general, the implementation of the TPP-2 reconstruction project will make it possible to meet the city’s growing needs for heat and electricity. The development of the industrial sector with the production of products at a high level of production organization will lead to an increase in the reliability of the city’s energy supply through the modernization of basic equipment, as well as to the creation of additional jobs in the region.
With wishes of a reliable partnership,
