EnergoFront specialists have completed the next stage

24 June 2020

EnergoFront specialists have completed the next stage of work on commissioning the electrical equipment of the PEMA 250-80 pumping units. During mooring tests, the pumping units were tested in various operating modes.

The individual operation of the pumps, their interaction with the systems for supplying oil to the bearings and water to the pump seals, and engine cooling were tested. The receipt of reliable information from temperature and pressure sensors and the transmission of this information to control systems (KSUTS) have been verified. Algorithms for blocking, protection and operation of pumping units were checked.

The individual operation of the pumps was tested in all modes, with the exception of operation at maximum power (this mode will be tested during sea trials). In all modes, the parameters of the pumping units were within the range of normal values. The operating modes of auxiliary systems (air conditioning and refrigeration) are configured. Equipment checks after completion of individual tests showed no equipment failures.

Subsequently, the operation of the equipment in joint operating modes was tested. The parameters of the frequency converters that power the electric motors of the pumping units were adjusted in order to obtain “smooth” transition modes during load drops and surges, during transitions from the operation of one pump to another, as part of two and three pumps.

Together with the control system of the KSU TS, the modes of input/output of pumping units into/out of operation were debugged. As a result, flow/pressure was maintained with the required accuracy in all operating modes of the steam turbine unit.

Currently, the Icebreaker is undergoing sea trials, in which the equipment is tested in operating modes at maximum power and when the ship is “rolling.”

With wishes for stable development,
