EnergoFront will supply equipment for two new serial icebreakers of project 22220

7 May 2020

August 23, 2019 - FSUE Atomflot and Baltic Shipyard JSC signed an agreement on the construction of the third and fourth serial nuclear-powered icebreakers of project 22220.

ФГУП "Атомфлот"

The construction of serial universal nuclear icebreakers is a prerequisite for the development of the Northern Sea Route and an increase in its cargo flow up to 80 million tons per year by 2024, as well as ensuring safe year-round navigation.

Providing year-round icebreaker assistance will allow for the implementation of large infrastructure projects logistically related to the port of Pevek, where the Akademik Lomonosov PEB will be based.

The deadlines for serial nuclear powered ships are December 2024 and December 2026.

Baltic Plant JSC is already building the lead and two serial universal nuclear icebreakers of project 22220. They are called "Arctic", "Siberia", "Ural". The construction of the Arctic nuclear icebreaker will be completed in 2020.

EnergoFront together with JSC "HMS" Livhydromash "continues its active participation in the construction of serial icebreakers. In early May, a contract was signed with JSC Kirov-Energomash Plant, the manufacturer of the PTU-72 steam turbine unit, for the supply of regular feed and circulation pumps complete with an electric drive for the third and fourth serial nuclear-powered icebreakers of project 22220.

EnergoFront and Livhydromash HMS JSC have already delivered similar pumping units for the lead, first and second serial nuclear powered vessels.

The specialists of the Service Department of our company are currently conducting active commissioning work on the equipment supplied at the Arctic icebreaker. Icebreaker sea trials are scheduled for June 2020.

With the wish of reliable partnership,
