EnergoFront launches electric motors for the needs of Karaganda TPP-2

23 March 2020

Karaganda CHPP-2 was commissioned in 1973 and, today, is one of two generating enterprises of the metallurgical plant of ArcelorMittal Temirtau JSC. The CHP provides the workshop with electric and thermal energy, chemically purified and demineralized water, and also supplies heat and electricity to the city of Temirtau. Karaganda coal from local mines is used as fuel.

The main equipment of the station has been in operation for over 40 years and has already exhausted its park resource. In addition to the high wear and tear of the equipment, the situation is aggravated by the fact that the boilers are now working on non-project fuel, because the operating and coal mining conditions in the mines of the Karaganda basin have changed. Based on the above, it was decided to reconstruct the station with the replacement of boiler-turbine and auxiliary equipment.

According to the results of the tender procedure conducted by ArcelorMittal Temirtau JSC, Podolsky Machine-Building Plant JSC was chosen as the supplier of the boiler. The auxiliary boiler equipment included tangential hammer mills of the MMT type manufactured by TYAZHMASH JSC. As an electric drive of the mill, EnergoFront experts proposed using electric motors of the ADOSH series manufactured by NPO ELSIB PAO.

The electric motor of the ADOSH series was specially designed according to the technical initial requirements of TYAZHMASH JSC, for driving ball / hammer mills, on the basis of mass-produced ADO electric machines and is designed to ensure the launch of the mill even with some blockage of the grinding chamber.
Given the tight deadlines for the project, the equipment is planned to be shipped in batches. EnergoFront, as usual, will control the timing of production and ensure the supply of electric motors directly to the facility.

In general, the implementation of the reconstruction project of CHPP-2 will provide for the increasing needs of the city in heat and electricity. The development of the industrial sector with the release of products at a high level of production organization will lead to an increase in the reliability of the city’s energy supply through the modernization of basic equipment, as well as to the creation of additional jobs in the region.

With the wish of reliable partnership,
